Ingredients

Crab Mixture

  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup butter (for frying)
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 pound fresh crab meat
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • Lemon wedges (for serving)
  • Fresh parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, gently combine the fresh crab meat, mayonnaise, lightly beaten egg, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, Old Bay seasoning, lemon juice, chopped fresh parsley, and bread crumbs.
  • Season the mixture with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Form the crab mixture into 8 to 10 patties.

Cooking

  • Heat a skillet over medium heat and melt the butter.
  • Cook the crab cakes for 3 to 4 minutes on each side, or until they are crispy and golden brown.
  • Remove them from the skillet and drain on paper towels.

Serving

  • Garnish with fresh parsley and serve with lemon wedges.

Notes

For added flavor, consider mixing in crushed garlic or diced onion. For crunch, substitute some bread crumbs with crushed saltine crackers. Chill patties for better shape and consider prepping the mixture a day in advance.
