Preparation

  • Heat the pan: Start by placing a large skillet over medium heat. Add the olive oil and let it heat up.
  • Cook the potatoes: Add the diced potatoes to the skillet and cook for about 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally until golden and tender. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  • Brown the beef: In the same skillet, add the ground beef and diced onion. Cook for about 6–8 minutes, stirring until the beef is browned and the onions are soft. Drain any excess fat.
  • Season the meat: Sprinkle in the garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well so the beef absorbs the flavors.
  • Combine everything: Bring the cooked potatoes back into the skillet. Stir and cook for an additional 3–4 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  • Add the cheese: Sprinkle shredded cheese over the skillet. Cover with a lid and let it sit on low heat for 2–3 minutes or until the cheese melts.
