Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 cup chickpea flour (gram flour)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder To be added just before cooking

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup water Gradually added to batter
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice Enhances flavor

Fresh Herbs

  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, chopped

Optional Topping

  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds Optional, for garnish

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together chickpea flour, salt, ground cumin, garlic powder, paprika, and black pepper.
  • Gradually add water while continuously whisking until a smooth batter forms.
  • Stir in the olive oil and lemon juice, then let the batter rest for 10-15 minutes.

Cooking

  • Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat and lightly grease it with olive oil.
  • Stir in the baking powder into the rested batter.
  • Pour a ladleful of batter into the pan and spread it evenly.
  • Cook for about 3-4 minutes until bubbles form on the surface, then flip and cook for another 2-3 minutes until golden brown.

Serving

  • Once all flatbreads are cooked, sprinkle with fresh parsley, rosemary, and optionally, sesame seeds.
  • Serve warm with dips or toppings of your choice.

Notes

For best results, allow the batter to rest before cooking to achieve optimal texture. Experiment with spices for different flavors and serve hot for the best experience.
