Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips Rich, creamy chocolate that melts beautifully.
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips Adds a touch of sweetness that balances the semi-sweet chocolate.
  • 2 tbsp butter Enhances the creaminess and gives a smooth texture to the chocolate mixture.
  • 3 cups crispy rice cereal Provides the iconic crunch that makes these bars so uniquely satisfying.
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract A hint of vanilla to elevate the chocolate flavors.
  • pinch sea salt (optional) A touch of salt enhances sweetness and richness.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a microwave-safe bowl, combine both the semi-sweet and milk chocolate chips along with the butter. Microwave on medium power for 30-second intervals, stirring in between each interval until the mixture is smooth and fully melted.
  • Once melted, stir in the vanilla extract and the crispy rice cereal. Carefully fold the cereal into the chocolate until every piece is evenly coated with the luscious mixture.
  • Prepare an 8×8-inch pan by lining it with parchment paper. Pour the chocolate-cereal mixture into the pan and spread it out evenly. Tap the pan lightly on the countertop to remove any trapped air pockets.
  • Place the pan in the refrigerator and allow the mixture to chill for at least 1 hour, or until it is completely firm. Once set, take it out and carefully remove the mixture from the pan using the edges of the parchment paper.
  • Use a sharp knife to cut the chilled mixture into bars or squares. Serve immediately, or store in an airtight container in the fridge where they'll keep fresh for up to 1 week.

Notes

For an extra touch, consider drizzling additional melted chocolate over the top of the bars before they set. You can also experiment with different cereals or add nuts or dried fruits for added texture and flavor. Refrigeration prolongs freshness, and freezing can maintain quality longer.
