Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs. Mix until the batter is smooth and well-blended.
  • Gently fold in the sour cream until fully combined.

Baking

  • Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Ganache Preparation

  • In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it simmers. Remove from heat and add the chocolate chips. Stir until melted.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract to enhance the flavor.

Assembly

  • Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread mini marshmallows over the top.
  • Pour half of the ganache over the marshmallows.
  • Add the second layer and spread any remaining ganache over the top and sides.
