  • 1/4 cup mascarpone cheese Creamy and smooth, providing the classic tiramisu texture.

  • 2 tbsp maple syrup or simple syrup Sweetener that complements the coffee's bitterness.
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract Introduces a hint of warmth and sweetness.
  • 1-2 drops almond extract (optional) Adds a subtle nutty note that enhances the flavor.
  • Ice cubes Ice cubes To chill and create a frothy texture in the shake.

Garnishes

  • 1 tbsp crushed biscotti or ladyfinger crumbs For a lovely garnish and added texture.
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder Adds a rich, chocolatey flavor to the rim.
  • 1 dab maple syrup for sticking Ensures the rim coating stays in place.
  • 1 tbsp whipped cream or frothed milk (optional) For a finishing touch of creaminess.
  • 1 dash cocoa powder (optional) A luxurious, decorative twist.
  • 1 whole coffee bean or a chocolate shaving (optional) An elegant garnish.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Rim the glass: Place the biscotti crumbs and cocoa powder mixture on a plate. Dip the rim of a coupe or martini glass in maple syrup, ensuring it’s coated well. Then, press the damp rim into the crumb mixture, coating it thoroughly. Chill the glass in the refrigerator to set.
  • Shake it up: In a cocktail shaker or blender, combine the cooled espresso, mascarpone cheese, milk, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and almond extract if using. Add a generous amount of ice and shake or blend until the mixture is smooth and slightly frothy.
  • Pour & top: Strain the delicious blend into the prepared rimmed glass. For an added touch of indulgence, swirl a dollop of whipped cream or a spoonful of milk foam on top. Dust lightly with cocoa powder, and finish with a whole coffee bean or a delicate chocolate curl for a stunning presentation.

Notes

For an extra frothy texture, use a milk frother on your milk before adding it to the shaker. Consider infusing your milk with spices like cinnamon or nutmeg for more flavor. You can also adjust sweetness with different sweeteners.
