Instructions

Preparation

  • Start by unrolling the thawed puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface, shaping it into a neat rectangle.
  • Using a spatula, spread a thin layer of pepper jelly evenly across the surface of the pastry, ensuring all corners are covered.
  • Generously sprinkle the shredded sharp cheddar across the jelly layer, followed by spreading the chopped chives evenly over the top.
  • Tightly roll the pastry from the long side, creating a log shape. Keep it firm but not overly tight.
  • Using a sharp knife, slice the rolled pastry into 1-inch rounds.
  • Brush each pinwheel with the beaten egg.

Cooking

  • Place the pinwheels in a preheated air fryer basket lined with parchment paper and air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 8-10 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • Remove from the air fryer and sprinkle with extra chives and optional chili flakes while still warm.
  • Serve immediately.

Notes

Make ahead by preparing the pinwheels, slicing them, and storing in the fridge for a few hours before air frying. Enjoy warm directly from the air fryer for the best texture.
