Ingredients

Base Ingredients

  • 8 oz softened cream cheese or Neufchatel for a lighter option
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup regular or light sour cream

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 12 oz canned lump crab meat two 6 oz cans
  • 1 tbsp grated white onion
  • 2 tbsp finely chopped Italian parsley
  • 1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp all-purpose seasoning salt like Lawry’s
  • 1/2 piece lemon juice of 1/2
  • Tabasco sauce to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste

For Serving

  • Crackers, tortilla chips, or baguette slices for serving

Instructions

Oven Method

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a medium-sized mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, sour cream, and mayonnaise. Blend until smooth.
  • Stir in crab meat, cheddar cheese, onion, lemon juice, parsley, Worcestershire sauce, and seasoning salt. Mix well.
  • Spoon the mixture into a small baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  • Bake for about 25-30 minutes, or until the dip is hot and bubbly.
  • Remove from the oven and serve warm with your choice of chips or bread.

Slow Cooker Method

  • Place all ingredients in a 3-4 quart slow cooker.
  • Stir until well combined.
  • Cover and cook on LOW for 2 hours. Stir and cook for an additional 15-20 minutes.
  • Keep warm on the WARM setting for up to an hour, stirring occasionally.
  • Serve with your favorite dippers.

Notes

Use high-quality canned crab meat for the best flavor. Experiment with different cheeses, and consider make-ahead options by storing the mixture in the fridge before baking.
