Ingredients

For the pastry

  • 10 sheets phyllo pastry Thin and flaky, providing the perfect crispy exterior.
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted Necessary for brushing and creating golden layers.

For the filling

  • 4 oz Brie cheese, sliced thinly Rich and creamy, it melts beautifully.
  • 1/2 cup cranberry sauce Sweet-tart with vibrant red hues.
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans, toasted Crunchy and nutty, these add depth and richness.
  • 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup Sweetness to enhance the dish brilliantly.
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves (optional) Adding an aromatic herbaceous touch.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Brush one sheet of phyllo with the melted butter, then layer another sheet on top. Repeat until you have stacked five sheets and cut into rectangles, approximately 3x4 inches.
  • Repeat the process with the remaining phyllo sheets.

Assembly

  • Place one phyllo stack on the prepared baking sheet. Add sliced Brie, a dollop of cranberry sauce, and a sprinkle of toasted pecans. Layer another phyllo stack on top and repeat until all ingredients are used.

Baking

  • Bake for 10-12 minutes until golden brown and crispy, with melted cheese.
  • Drizzle with honey or maple syrup, sprinkle extra pecans, and garnish with thyme leaves before serving.

Notes

Keep the phyllo sheets covered with a damp towel while working and toast pecans lightly. This dish is perfect for holiday gatherings or elegant appetizers.
