  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce Adds a depth of flavor and umami.
  • 1 tsp dried thyme A fragrant herb that enhances the dish’s warmth.
  • 1 tsp salt Essential for bringing out all the flavors.
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper A touch of spice to complement the savory ingredients.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a skillet over medium heat, sauté the finely chopped mushrooms, onion, and minced garlic for about 5–7 minutes until softened and aromatic. Set aside to cool slightly.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, the cooled sautéed vegetables, breadcrumbs, grated Swiss cheese, milk, beaten egg, Worcestershire sauce, dried thyme, salt, and black pepper. Gently mix until just combined.
  • Transfer the mixture to a loaf pan and shape it evenly.

Baking

  • Place the loaf pan into the preheated oven and bake for approximately 60–65 minutes until it reaches an internal temperature of 160°F (70°C).
  • Let the meatloaf rest for about 10 minutes before slicing. Serve with freshly chopped parsley.

Notes

Make ahead by preparing the mixture a day in advance and refrigerate it. Substitute Swiss cheese with cheddar for different flavors. You can add other finely chopped vegetables for added nutrition.
