Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine graham cracker crumbs, granulated sugar, and melted butter. Mix until all crumbs are evenly coated.
  • Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of a 9-inch pie dish.
  • Bake for 8 minutes until slightly golden, then let cool slightly.

Cream Cheese Filling

  • In a separate mixing bowl, beat softened cream cheese with granulated sugar, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Pour the filling over the baked crust, spreading it out evenly.

Pecan Topping

  • In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter along with brown sugar and corn syrup (or maple syrup). Stir until smooth.
  • Remove from heat and whisk in the egg, vanilla, and salt.
  • Fold in chopped pecans.

Assemble & Bake

  • Spoon the pecan mixture over the cream cheese layer evenly.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes, until the top is set with a slight jiggle and golden.
  • Let cool for at least an hour.

Notes

For a quicker version, use store-bought crusts. Ensure cream cheese is softened for a lump-free filling. Avoid overbaking.
