Instructions

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, stir together the softened cream cheese, finely chopped shrimp, green onions, garlic powder, and soy sauce until well combined.
  • The mixture should be creamy with an aromatic blend of flavors.

Assembly

  • Place one wonton wrapper on a clean, flat surface.
  • Spoon about 1 teaspoon of the shrimp and cream cheese filling into the center of the wrapper.

Sealing

  • Brush the edges of the wrapper with the beaten egg.
  • Fold the wrapper over to create a triangle or pouch shape, pressing down firmly to seal tightly.
  • Repeat until all of the filling is used.

Cooking

  • Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan or fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  • Carefully add the wontons in batches, frying them for 2 to 3 minutes or until they turn golden brown and crispy.

Serving

  • Once cooked, drain the wontons on paper towels to remove excess oil.

Notes

Do not overfill the wonton wrappers. Seal well to avoid leaks during frying. Adjust oil temperature as needed, and feel free to experiment with flavors like bell peppers or lime juice.
