Instructions

Preparation

  • Begin by dividing the ground beef into four equal portions and form gentle balls.
  • Heat a cast-iron pan over high heat until sizzling hot.
  • Smash the beef balls down flat and cook for 2–3 minutes until crispy.
  • Flip, season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika, and cook for another 2–3 minutes.

Caramelizing the Onions

  • Melt butter in the same pan over medium heat without cleaning.
  • Add finely chopped onions and cook for 8–10 minutes until golden and soft.

Assembling the Quesadilla

  • Heat a clean pan over medium heat and lay a tortilla flat.
  • Sprinkle cheese, place a smash burger patty atop, layer with caramelized onions, drizzle with sauce, and add more cheese.
  • Top with another tortilla.

Cooking the Quesadilla

  • Grill for 2–3 minutes on one side, pressing down gently.
  • Flip and cook until both sides are golden and cheese is melted.

Serving

  • Remove from pan, slice into quarters, and serve warm with extra burger sauce.
