Ingredients

For the Dough

For the Egg Wash

For the Filling

  • 200 g frozen spinach, thawed and squeezed dry Earthy and vibrant, packs a nutritional punch.

Instructions

Make the Dough

  • In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and yeast. Gradually add lukewarm milk and olive oil, kneading for about 8–10 minutes until soft and elastic. Let it rest covered for an hour.

Prepare the Filling

  • Mix spinach, artichokes, feta, cream cheese, garlic, and lemon zest in a bowl. Season with salt and pepper.

Shape the Star

  • Divide the dough into two balls, roll each into a 30cm circle, and layer them with the filling.

Cut & Twist

  • Cut the dough into 16 strips and twist each pair away from each other, pinching the ends.

Brush & Bake

  • Brush the star with beaten egg and sprinkle with seeds if using. Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 25–30 minutes until golden.

Cool Slightly & Serve Warm

  • Let the bread cool slightly before serving. Best enjoyed warm.
