Ingredients

For the Baked Camembert

  • 1 whole whole Camembert wheel (250g), in wooden box
  • 2 tbsp hot honey (or regular honey + pinch of chili flakes)
  • 1 tbsp fresh thyme leaves Aromatic and fragrant
  • 2 tbsp shelled pistachios toasted and chopped
  • 1 tsp olive oil Smooth and fruity
  • to taste freshly cracked black pepper For seasoning

For Serving

  • as needed toasted baguette slices Options include crackers or grissini
  • as needed apple or pear slices (optional) as a refreshing accompaniment

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 180°C (355°F).
  • Remove any plastic wrapping from the Camembert, then place it back into its wooden box or in a small ovenproof dish.
  • Using a sharp knife, score the top rind in a crosshatch pattern.

Baking

  • Drizzle the top of the cheese with olive oil and 1 tablespoon of hot honey.
  • Sprinkle fresh thyme leaves and a dash of cracked black pepper over the top.
  • Place your Camembert in the preheated oven and bake uncovered for 15-18 minutes.
  • Once out, let it cool slightly, then top with remaining hot honey and the toasted, chopped pistachios.

Serving

  • Serve hot alongside toasted baguette slices, crackers, or fresh apple or pear slices.

Notes

For optimal melting, let your Camembert reach room temperature before baking. Avoid overbaking to maintain creamy texture. Consider healthy alternatives for honey and nuts as variations.
