Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 200°F (95°C).
  • Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  • Lay out the thinly sliced jalapeños in a single layer on the prepared tray.
  • Bake for 1 to 1.5 hours, flipping the slices halfway through.
  • Once dried, allow the jalapeño slices to cool completely.
  • Grind the cooled jalapeño slices into flakes or powder in a spice grinder or food processor.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the ground jalapeños with coarse sea salt and lemon zest. Add garlic powder or smoked paprika if desired.
  • Transfer your Zesty Jalapeño Salt into a sealed jar.

Notes

Choose milder jalapeños for less heat, or remove seeds for a milder spice. Store in an airtight container for up to two months.
